About Ben Fidge

QRFree is a free, browser-based QR code generator published by Ben Fidge. There is no account, and the codes are static.

Ben Fidge is a senior software engineer and .NET architect with more than 25 years of experience. He is based in Thailand and has worked remotely for clients in the UK and Europe for many years. This site is one of the free tools he publishes. Another is PageUtil, a set of browser utilities for DNS, HTTP, text, encoding, and everyday calculations.

What he builds

Recent work covers cloud-native .NET platforms, microservices, Backend-for-Frontend architectures, distributed sagas, REST APIs, authentication and authorisation, and Azure deployments.

Earlier projects include enterprise master data management, public-sector health administration systems, security incident management software, travel booking platforms, Umbraco CMS implementations, and financial back-office tooling.

QRFree uses that same preference for tools that run on the device. The generator encodes the symbol in your browser. A Wi-Fi password, a vCard, or a private URL is not uploaded to create the code. History stays in local storage on that browser.

What this site records

Google Analytics measures ordinary site usage, such as which pages are opened. It does not receive the text you type into the generator. The guides are practical notes on print size, contrast, menus, and tracking with your own analytics. They are not a promise that a particular code has been press-checked on your stock.
