Free WiFi QR Code Generator

Create a free, scannable Wi-Fi QR code in seconds. Let guests, customers, and visitors join your Wi-Fi network with a quick camera scan—no typing complicated passwords. Everything is encoded locally in your browser with zero data tracking. Download print-ready PNG, SVG vector, or JPEG files for table tents, counters, and guest manuals.

Wi-Fi Network Configuration

Step 1 of 2
Network Security Best Practice

The password is stored in the QR code payload. While standard iOS and Android cameras connect automatically without revealing the password on screen, raw barcode scanners can display the plain text. Always create Wi-Fi QR codes for an isolated Guest Network rather than your internal office or till network.

Customize Appearance & Branding

Tailor colours, dot styles, resolution, and optional venue logo.

How to create a Wi-Fi QR code

Follow these three steps to turn your network credentials into a clean, printable sign.

1

Enter your network details

Type your network name (SSID) exactly as broadcast by your router, including capitals and spaces. Enter the password and select WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for modern networks, or None for an open network.

2

Brand your code for your space

Match your venue's colours or branding. Add your café or Airbnb logo in the centre. Keep the foreground dark and the background light to guarantee high contrast for older phone cameras.

3

Download SVG & test scan

Download SVG for high-resolution table tents, acrylic stands, or posters. Scan the printed proof with both an iPhone and an Android phone to confirm instant connection before displaying it.

How guests connect using iPhone or Android

Zero apps required. Modern smartphones have built-in Wi-Fi QR scanners in their native camera.

Connecting with iPhone (iOS 11+)

1. Open the native Camera app from the Lock Screen or Control Centre.

2. Hold the camera so the QR code appears on the viewfinder.

3. A notification banner will immediately pop up: "Join [Your SSID] Network".

4. Tap the banner, then tap Join. The iPhone connects instantly without asking for password entry.

Connecting with Android (Android 10+)

1. Open the built-in Camera app or pull down the Quick Settings shade and tap QR Code scanner or Internet.

2. Point your camera at the Wi-Fi QR code.

3. A banner appears displaying your network name with a "Connect to network" button.

4. Tap the prompt, and Android will associate and authenticate with the Wi-Fi automatically.

How QR-code privacy works

Why generator security matters when handling sensitive network credentials.

100% Client-Side Processing

Every QR code on QRFree is drawn using in-browser SVG rendering. Your Wi-Fi password never travels across the internet or touches a server. You can even disconnect your internet and generate codes offline.

No Account, No Database

We do not require signup, email addresses, or account creation. There is no remote database storing your SSID or passwords, eliminating any risk of credential leaks or data scraping.

Local Browser Storage Only

If you click "Save to History", the record is stored strictly within your browser's local HTML5 storage (`localStorage`). You can clear it with a single click at any time.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common Wi-Fi QR code setup, privacy, and troubleshooting questions.

Is my Wi-Fi password sent to your servers?

No. The QR code is generated entirely inside your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your network SSID and Wi-Fi password are never transmitted over the internet or saved to any backend database.

Can anyone who scans the QR code see my Wi-Fi password?

Yes. Wi-Fi QR codes store the password as plain text within the standard WIFI: payload. Standard phone camera apps prompt the user to join the network without revealing the password, but generic barcode scanner apps can display the raw text. For this reason, always create QR codes for a dedicated guest network rather than your primary business or home LAN.

Do Wi-Fi QR codes expire?

No. These are permanent static QR codes. They never expire and there is no subscription required. The QR code will remain functional as long as your router uses the same network name (SSID), security type, and password.

How do guests connect using iPhone and Android?

Guests simply open their default camera app and point it at the printed code. On iPhone (iOS 11+) a banner appears saying 'Join [Network Name] Network'. On Android, a Wi-Fi prompt appears asking 'Connect to network'. Tapping the notification connects them instantly without typing.

What should I do if I change my Wi-Fi password?

Because static QR codes encode the data directly in the pixel pattern, you cannot update an existing printed QR code when your password changes. You will need to generate and print a new QR code.

Does this work with 5GHz and dual-band Wi-Fi networks?

Yes. As long as the SSID and password match, the guest's phone will automatically negotiate the best band (2.4GHz, 5GHz, or 6GHz) supported by their device and your router.
